If you’re not familiar with livestreaming on YouTube, it’s pretty easy to learn. You can also download some pretty nice (free open source) software to use as well called Open Broadcast Studio at https://obsproject.com If you’ve done stuff on radio broadcast before on Facebook or YouTube, it shouldn’t be a big deal learning it. No middlemen involved is the nice thing! This software let’s you tie-in to YouTube Live and add more cool interactive stuff.
I am giving you this for free, and it is also available for other authors/publishers to use to promote themselves.
If indie authors buy my Embellisher 3.0, they, of course, can tie these tours into their online platform and get direct sales on their website, by-passing Amazon and other retailers.

Direct-to-reader sales is the future of publishing. Just ask J. K. Rowling and her sales platform at Pottermore.com. My mobile ePub3 creator studio, sales, and marketing online platform, the Embellisher ™ 3.0, is efficient, secure, and reader-friendly. These are the main reasons four of my clients have enjoyed using it for their different purposes. I will also cover how my system is more secure than other platforms, and why it will be the wave of the future for selling to a readership which has switched from eBook Readers and computers, to reading on their mobile devices. Why? Because the reader of today is “mobile and on the move,” and sales and marketing directly to them through their iPhone and Android are the best ways to allow them to read and even do educational exercises, across mobile devices.
Our client, Patrick Gould, Esq., was very interested about working with somebody who could get him into the mobile publishing delivery of his law school bar review business. When I met him at the Chicago Book Expo America, we had a good conversation about what he does and what he wanted to do. I really appreciated Patrick’s approach to getting the best possible app for his needs.
First of all, Patrick hired a technical person to interview prospective app developers to see which one did exactly what he needed done for his needs. After I talked with this person, Patrick was pleased with the information he got about us, and we moved into the specifics of his business needs. Any good business person always knows the competition, and Patrick was no exception. The other deliverers of bar training materials, including some multi-million dollar outfits like Kaplan, had some very poor ratings for their apps. Most of the problems had to do with the syncing problem and the video loading problems inside the apps.
Therefore, I explained to Patrick that this was an excellent time for him to move into the market with the best app to deliver his materials to the students in the best way possible. Social marketing is vital to the life of a business predicated upon technology and the delivery of educational content. I told Patrick that his new business app would not have a problem with the syncing of materials to the user’s mobile device because our app doesn’t allow local access of files. The user must be connected to the Internet to use the Embellisher™ Mobile Publishing app. This provides the user with instant syncing with the educational materials, and, most importantly, the materials cannot be stolen.
Our product is not strictly an app; it is a so-called “web app”. In other words, users do not install the app from a Playstore but instead visit a website which is optimized for mobile phone usage. The user must be logged into the app and connected to the Internet in order to be able to use the materials. The video problems are alleviated with our app by installing the videos on Vimeo and then embedding the video inside an eBook using our ePub3 Creator Studio. Whenever the video is uploaded into the app, it will have a problem with loading when the user tries to view the video. Because we “stream” the video from Vimeo’s server, there is no loading needed. Also, we don’t use YouTube because of the advertisements that get placed inside the videos and interrupt the viewing enjoyment. Hackers do this to increase revenue, but we don’t want our users being side-tracked by some other company’s ads.
Patrick purchased our Turnkey Installationt the Embellisher 3.0. He also needed a Php-enabled website, so we sold him that also, with the domain name of GouldBarReview.com included, for $100.00. The security our platform provides was also important for his legal tests. My main competition are online sites such as the Canadian service Bookchain. If you note, they do charge license fees and other fees, simply under the guise of “protecting your eBook from piracy.” My developer tells me the only “almost” foolproof way to protect an eBook is by not having the complete book anywhere in the sales software, which my platform does and Bookchain does not. My platform also allows for ePub3 formatted eBooks (multimedia and interactive).
My developer and I worked on this program for several years to ensure an almost 99% hack-proof program (he says that nothing digitally programmed is ever 100% hack-proof, so I must agree). However, the idea is to slow-down the hacker enough that he/she doesn’t believe it’s worth his/her time to pursue the required stealth. For example, eBooks sold on Amazon include the “keys to the car” inside each book they sell. A hacker can de-program the book in about twenty seconds and have it up for sale on pirate web sites.
The reason my program is so efficient is because the reader must login to a “live” app which never loads a complete copy of the eBook into the eReader portion of the software. To pirate a book, the hacker must be able to download a complete copy, and in my Embellisher platform, this is not possible.
Finally, we worked with Patrick to show him how to use his new app and the creator studio that comes with it. We set-up a one-on-one webinar to show him the steps required to create a simple ePub3 eBook, embed a video, and include other teaching materials for his students. In addition, we instructed him on the use of the Administrative side of the app where he can price his courses and even include coupon discounts. Finally, we explained to him that because he has licensed our top-of-the-line installation, he will be able to expand his business in the future by allowing other instructors to have their own courses to sell inside his app. In other words, each instructor can have his/her own Administrator login and creator studio account, and Patrick can collect a fee from the instructor for using it. In other words, only the Embellisher™ Mobile Publishing platform allows for expanding into the publishing and education business. In fact, entire school districts use our app to do this, allowing each teacher to have his/her own Administration account.
When I began working with the largest eBook distributor in Israel, Yaron Goldstein, one of the first things he told me was that the Israeli publishing community had never experienced the phenomenon of Amazon and eBooks. In other words, there was no rise of the giant conglomerate to attempt the take-over of the digital reading market the way it had happened in the United States. Mr. Goldstein put it rather simply to me, however, when he said, “Why should I give 30% of my money to Amazon?” Why, indeed!
There was a lot made about the “Netflix for books” business model. Perhaps Smashwords spoke most coherently about it. Of course, they had signed a deal with Oyster, one of the outfits that offers the “all you can read buffet.” Hugh Howey, the former indie supporter came out in favor of the Amazon Kindle Unlimited experience for the reader and author. Of course, he was one of the “lucky ones” to receive a “non-exclusive” contract agreement to sell his titles through Amazon. Even the Huffington Post came out with the article to assess the overall playing field for the author in these days of “streaming content.”
Yaron and I are working together to provide a better model for authors. Our model says that mobile publishing is the only way indies can stay competitive against this tidal wave of greedy profiteers in the “land of the corporate giants.” Make no mistake. The authors are the ones losing out in the long run with the corporate business model. It’s basic economics. Karl Marx even talks about it in Das Capital. If the business person (yes, an author is also a business person) does not own the means of production, then he will always remain subservient to the overlord. What is never discussed in these articles about Safari, Oyster, Scribd, Kindle Unlimited and Playster, is the fact that they own the means of production. In other words, without the ability to create and distribute your own intellectual property, independent authors will remain patsies to the Goliaths in this world.
My company, EMRE Publishing, LLC and its product, the Embellisher™ Mobile Publishing and Marketing platform 3.0, is the David who can fight this Goliath. Our slingshot is what will give our clients the edge. Mobile distribution of books allows authors to become the controllers of their destinies. No other means of getting your books in front of readers’ eyes will allow you to collect most of the profits directly into your bank account the way our platform does. This is the main reason Yaron came on board, and this is why we’re willing to work with any independent who wants to experience the freedom of getting their “ducks in a row” in order to establish a brand that won’t be taken under by the conglomerate model of book sales looming on the horizon.
Shirley Franks has purchased our installation of the Embellisher™ Mobile Publishing platform 3.0 to use her expertise as a nurse and business person. She wanted to be able to prepare and teach graduate nurses the practical skills they need to pass the Nurse Practicum, which is a final and required test by one’s peers to see if you have the practical skills necessary to work with patients.
As a result, we created her website and landing page to introduce her clientele to her services. This was an extra cost because she did not have her own server or website. We were able to do this with no problems. All registrants will automatically receive a free copy of Shirley’s eBook, A Foreign Nurse’s Guide to America, when they register for her free app. The courses will be offered inside the app. Students can login to their course on any mobile phone available, just copy the platform URL to their home screen, so there are no complicated management interfaces. They can also pay for their courses right inside the app using Stripe.
As you can see, our installation works for authors who have something to teach their readers. Not only can you sell your books inside our app, you have established a unique, one-on-one platform from which to teach them the specialized information you may possess.
The Former eBay Businessman
I hope you don’t mind the bit of nepotism, but my son, Chris Musgrave, uses my platform for his growing online product sales. He was tired of the “buyer bots” and extra charges that Amazon was piling on. So, the way he profits is to create the multimedia eBooks in the studio part of the software, and he then markets the eBook for each of his products and adds extras like videos and interactive text inside that can bring-up images to show the quality of the item being sold to each prospective buyer. He prefers to market in a mobile environment because it allows him to send links to each product by using Twitter, Snapchat, Linkedin, Skype, or any other social platform, where he can reach high-end collectors and quality product buyers. Once they sign-up to his platform, he has future sales guaranteed.
He is now a consultant to the pawn shop in Rosemead. Brown’s Pawn and Jewelry. He is married to Kristal Kent and they have my granddaughter, Jenna Nicole, who wants to be a genetic research scientist when she finished college. She’s the real “star” of our family.
As a fellow author, I understand the hard work that goes into each manuscript, and when you create a series of books in one genre or subject area, you want to be able to keep your readers in one place—your place. Ownership and security, I say again, are the keys to any thriving business. Especially the digital eBook business.
James Musgrave was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. He taught as a Professor of English and worked as a Supervisor, Management Development at Caltech, Pasadena and at various San Diego colleges. He is now the author and publisher at EMRE Publishing, LLC in San Diego. He has won many writing awards, and his mysteries are “featured selections” by the American Library Association. He was also a Finalist in the Bram Stoker Awards, First Place Award for Best Historical Mystery in the Chanticleer International Book Awards, and a Finalist in the Heekin Fellowship.

Get a free website location to join our “slow revolution” toward weaning ourselves off Amazon and all the other online eBook retailers.
What are you currently paying for a website? If you can give us your domain information, we can point you to a new place to hang your hat. EMRE Publishing wants you to learn how to gradually get away from giving your profits to Amazon and others. You can begin by setting up your author online presence here.
Here’s what you’ll get. Compare it to what you now have and then make a choice:
Unlimited storage space for your media.
Php-enabled and contains WordPress website creation tools and plugin access.
You will have a private domain location and will not share with others.
Your site will have the security of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to make your direct sales to customers safe.
If you choose to enroll in our ePub3 Creator Studio Plan A, you can do what others have done to gradually “cut the cord” from Amazon.
All we need to move you into your new free location is the domain nameservers from your present host. Send these namesservers to us and we’ll point them to your new website. You can save the web pages from your old website and load them inside the new WordPress software we will have loaded inside your new domain presence.
Plan for Your Publishing and Marketing Future
You can keep your free website, and you don’t have to pay us anything for it in the future. It’s yours to use as you please, with the usual caveats about doing business with unsavory people, sales of pornography, or the solicitation or sale/use of any product that encourages hatred or violence.
However, since we will be using our collective knowledge to attract new visitors, you may want to read on. The idea we have is to increase your mailing list of followers in order to gradually break free of the middlemen like Amazon who take a lot of your sales profits. This does not mean you cut them (or any other sales channels you might still have) out of the picture right now.
In fact, our whole concept is to use these channels until you have enough of a following (people on your mailing list) to begin selling directly to them on their mobile devices. Why? Because, by the year 2025, seventy-two percent of the world’s population will be doing all of their reading and/or purchasing on their mobile devices.
If you already have at least 100 email followers with whom you directly communicate, then read about our plans:
Optional Plan A
If you want the tools to create, market and sell directly to your list of email readers to their mobile devices, then please pay attention.
EMRE Publishing’s Plan A does the following for you:
We install the Embellisher (TM) eReader and Store directly to your new website. You do nothing but use it on your domain, and it’s yours to keep forever, at no further cost.
A complete mobile sales platform that will allow you to sell directly to your customers.
If you need a more tailored look for your business, then we can do that also.
A mobile sales platform that will allow you to sell and educate directly to your customers.
Optional Plan B
Some of our clients don’t have access to mailing list campaign software. Therefore, we have included this optional plan. It is a great deal because you’ll get to do “cooperative marketing campaigns” with other members who might write in a similar genre and have a mailing list to share which enhances your own.
These cooperative campaigns are the core of our future strategy. The growth of direct sales to the client, reader and student depends upon growing your mailing list campaigns and the size of your client base. Therefore, having access to a communal mailing list campaign software that you can use collectively (unlike software like MailChimp), makes your effort work more effectively with a higher return on your investment.
This email campaign software is Php-based, so you can easily use it inside your new website.
Ready to Begin?
You can begin by establishing your roots on our server with a new, cost-free web presence. Email me, Jim Musgrave, and give me the login information of your domain host, or (if you can access it) give me the nameservers I can use to set you up with a new website.*
*Note: Be sure to copy all the html pages from your old site so you can upload them into the WordPress software on your new site.
New York Times and Amazon Try to Stop the Rise of Indie Authors
Although indie authors who sell eBooks are more popular than their Big Publishing counterparts, they aren’t getting the respect their successful fight should bring. A recent move by the New York Times Book Review and Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited attempts to push indie authors back down below traditional publishing once again. We at EMRE Publishing are fighting back on behalf of all independent authors by running a Kickstarter campaign aimed at pairing technical ePub3 developers and indie authors to create four satirical stories based on a political theme.
THE HORRORS, FANTASIES AND SCIENCE FICTIONS OF LIFE IN THE TRUMP ERA
Four different ePub3 formatted satirical stories will be featured, and authors and one administrator will share in the profits of eBooks sold in the Embellisher Publishing Platform. Supporters may also join at the reader level, allowing them to get a bird’s eye look at how each eBook will be developed as well a free copies of the final projects. The categories include:
Story Category 1: The Pussy-Grabbing President
Story Category 2: Jared Kushner’s Big Adventure (not to be confused with Peewee Herman)
Story Category 3: Ivanka Trump’s Shopping Channel
Story Category 4: The First Lady’s War on Bullying
There are 29 days left as of 4/10/17, so if you want to participate and support this campaign, you can. We hope it’s a success so that independent authors can show big publishers and the big middlemen (Amazon and NY Times) they can make it alone.
How does a billionaire author sell her digital and audio books? J. K. Rowling, a pretty smart creator of the legendary Harry Potter series, never sold her digital or audio rights to any mainstream publisher. That’s right, folks, she’s now doing it all on her own at pottermore.com!
Now you can be one step ahead of J. K. Rowling. Why? Because even though she’s selling direct to the reader, and she owns 100% of the digital and audio rights to her property, she’s still allowing the buyers to download her eBooks in the extremely unsecure epub format. ePub is the major reason why the major book publishers won’t allow libraries to lend their copies to a library patron.
Also, at the recent London Book Fair, a complete presentation on eBook Piracy was given to demonstrate the fact that over $350 million were lost to pirates in a single year. According to research by Dutch firm GfK, only 10% of all eBooks currently on e-readers, smartphones or tablets is actually paid for. Meanwhile a survey conducted by Book Industry Study Group found that during the Spring 2013 semester, 34% of college students in the United States illegally downloaded course materials from unauthorized websites.
The fact is, the minute you, the publisher/author allows the reader/buyer access to the complete eBook, it can be pirated. The only way to keep one step ahead of the digital pirates is to make the DRM (Digital Rights Management) system the most secure it can be.
Outlets Galore. Microsoft to Open Online eBook Sales Website
If you’re a publisher or an author, the first impression you might have when getting the news of another eBook sales portal opening is, “Wow, now I can make even more money through these new sales outlets!” Microsoft’s announcement that it will be selling “hundreds of thousands of frontlist and backlist eBook titles” comes as no surprise to me.
However, if you’ve been paying attention, sales of eBooks have not increased in conjunction with these new outlets opening. On the contrary. eBook sales are actually going down at a very fast rate if you believe the reports. Also, sales are not easily tracked when you spread your eBook distribution to all these outlets.
Not so fast. Please notice the last line in that Fortune article. One of the biggest reasons why eBooks seem to be going down is the fact that the Big Five online retailers are “allowing content creators to do an end-run around incumbents and sell directly to consumers.”
Also, if you notice, nothing is mentioned (except at Book Fairs) about the increasing rate of eBook piracy taking place. Therefore, the news of new sales outlets should be a sign to publishers that they need to circle the wagons and put their distribution dollars into B2C (business to customer) sales.
We at EMRE Publishing have developed a B2C sales platform that is secure, user-friendly and ePub3 compliant. We leverage this direct to reader sales model because of the “writing on the wall.” Readers use their mobile devices, especially their SmartPhones, to read, and they don’t want to hassle with all the logins and rip-offs required of conventional online book sales like Microsoft, Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Readers want speed, convenience and, most of all, they want to be able to follow the authors they want to follow and be informed immediately when that author comes out with a new title. Our system does all of this–and more.
I’ll be giving a webinar on May 15, 2017 that explains how you can cash-in on this new paradigm of eBooks sales. You don’t even have to have ISBN numbers to sell using our platform. We’ll also be giving away a free installation on your server so you can see how it increases your eBook sales if you follow our plan. We hope you can attend to learn how to cut your losses and protect your investment by selling direct to your readers.
When I worked with engineers at Caltech’s Industrial Relations Center, the challenges were immense when it came to communicating how these technical people could do the job for the marketing and sales people who had little to no technical knowledge. The problem is that even though authors and creators can envision possible uses for technology (in this case, digital technology), the people who actually implement the code to bring about these “visions” have a vocabulary and genius all their own. Therefore, most of my job at EMRE Publishing is to make certain my authors and publishers are able to work closely with my genius computer programmers to create the best possible rendering of their vision on the pages of their ePub3 books. Wouldn’t you want the flexibility to design an eBook that looked like the one in the above video?
I like the metaphor that the late Alan Watts shared concerning reality. On the surface, we can see the beauty of society in all its glory. For example, a well written novel is like the top-side of an elaborate quilt; it reads smoothly and doesn’t seem to make the experience of reading difficult. However, if we turn this wonderful reality quilt over, we can see the underlying, seemingly chaotic reality that went into making this surface reality so beautiful. We are therefore surprised to see a complex sequence of geometric patterns and trial and error sequences that go into making such a wonderful pattern on the top-side. This is the world of creating an excellent eBook for the viewer.
I’m proud to introduce you to two of our computer developers at EMRE who are the weavers of the complex patterns beneath the resultant beauty of your creation, your ePub3 book. Bas Van Stein, a PhD candidate in Computer Science at the prestigious Leiden University, the Netherlands, worked with me for over five years to develop our flagship product, the Embellisher (TM) ePub3 Mobile Publishing Platform. I was able to communicate my vision to Bas, and he was able to explain to me how it could be done. The final result is a revolutionary platform that makes the display of ePub3 a much more satisfying and secure experience for the publisher and the reader.
Today, I am proud to announce another member of our team who can work with you to see your vision become reality. Ric Wright is the Engineering Director at the Readium Foundation. Aha, you’re saying, what does that mean to me, an author or publisher of eBooks? Well, since our entire platform was coded using the open source Readium eReader as a starting point, which Ric helped develop, it means when you get a project done with us, you’re getting the wizard behind the miracle of what Readium can do for you and your creative ideas.
For example, what if you wanted to design a hybrid video game and eBook? Well, since Ric actually teaches how to create 2D and 3D graphics and animations and place them inside ePub3 eBooks, he can do the coding you would need to implement your game inside the eBook! He is, in fact, a software consultant, so working on such a project would be the proverbial “piece of cake” for him.
Aha, you’re saying. Why can’t I just go to iBook and create my ePub3 with them? After all, they provide all the tools I need to do it. The “catch” is that since Apple is one of the greediest companies on the planet, you end up having to pay them once your creation is ready for distribution. As this author found out, after reading the “fine print” of the legal agreement, he was basically turning over all publishing rights to Apple! As any publisher or author can tell you, this is the kiss of death to owners of intellectual property.
Therefore, when you work with Ric, you’ll be working in complete confidence that your creation will remain yours to publish freely using our Embellisher (TM) system. In fact, we’ll be contracting with you using an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), so when your ideas become a reality, there can be no untoward “rip-offs.” We use Github and Dropbox to securely keep all your developmental files. In addition, your final product, the embellished eBook, will be inside one of the most secure eReaders available today.
Take a look at what genres we are working with to create ePub3 titles. If you think your project fits, and you want to make the most money possible from your creation, then get in contact with us today. You can also look at what Melcher Media has done for its clients. If you have an idea for an interactive or embellished project, chances are you won’t have to pay what you’d have to pay Melcher because our overhead is a lot less! Ric will be happy to make your acquaintance in order to start weaving your quilt from the underside of reality.
Authors and/or publishers who want to develop an eBook in the latest ePub3 formatting work with us daily to see their creations come to life. In this article, you can see the nine things you need to know about using ePub3 formatting. In these three free books, you can learn about how ePub3 works in a hands-on, practical way.
Now, what if I told you that you don’t have to be technically able to do all the tricks listed in these books? In fact, we have developers and coders who’ve spent many thousands of hours working on projects that accomplish these feats of daring do, and unless you are a computer engineer, chances are you won’t learn the skills needed to do what you want.
That’s where EMRE Publishing can step-in and relieve the stress from you. Although we do suggest you first become familiar with what you can and cannot do with ePub3, it is not a total necessity. If you’re an author who wants to experiment with a new writing project that can make your work have a lot of extra “pop,” then ePub3 is right for you. I am specifically suggesting that ePub3 will be most beneficial to authors who write in the following genres:
Self-Help and Inspirational non-fiction.
Historical non-fiction and Historical fiction.
Children’s interactive books.
Choose-your-own adventures and mysteries.
Interactive Romance and Erotica.
Adventure non-fiction and fiction.
Military non-fiction and fiction.
All of these types of books lend themselves to incorporating the cool applications in ePub3 technology and interior design. If you have an idea for adding this technology to your next project, in order to create a professional-looking enhanced (or, as we like to call it “embellished”) title, then contact us today.
Here’s how we’ll work with you:
First, we’ll get a general idea of what your project is about and what you want to do inside the book.
Next, we’ll put you in touch with an experienced ePub3 developer and designer who can create the specific “look and feel” of your project.
After our developer gets an idea of what kind of time frame he/she would need to complete your project, we will get back to you with a cost estimate.
Finally, the developer will discuss your project’s workflows and how to submit the details of what you want your project to do for reader in a very linear way. Our computer engineers are very literal minded, so they will need to know exactly what you want the page to do (thus, the “suggestion” that you first become familiar with ePub3 techniques).
You pay 1/2 of the cost, and the second 1/2 payment will come once you are satisfied the project is meeting your requirements. We require a paid fee for work accomplished, based on the time spent by the engineer on your project, should you wish to terminate the project.
If you’re interested in getting your next writing project done using the latest ePub3 formatting and technology, just contact us. We’ll discuss it with you in detail to get you enthused about what kinds of things you can do. Your creative wheels deserve a nice “hard body” running under them, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the way we can make it happen.
As a publisher and independent author, I’ve established my company to serve fellow indie authors. I’ve realized (mostly through trial and error) that the best way to publish and distribute an indie title is to do most of the preparation of my work (what publishers call “prepress”) on my own. This saves you a hell of a lot of up-front costs so you’re free to put most of your money and effort where it counts: marketing and promotion.
That being said, I also provide authors with https://emrepublishing.com/digital-prepress-services/ editing and prepress services, as well as eBook conversions https://emrepublishing.com/ebook-conversion-services/. However, most of my business is all about getting the indie author’s titles out there in the hands of readers. My three services are very reasonably priced, but it’s the way my services allow authors to market directly to their audience that sets my mobile publishing web app apart from the competition. Instead of forcing my authors to do their publishing through me, as most of the big outfits do, I turn the keys of publishing over to the indie author. In other words, they get installed on their server my Embellisher mobile publishing system https://emrepublishing.com/downloads/standard-embellisher-tm-mobile-publishing-platform/ (5 years in the making; based on the innovative ePub3 code of the Readium Project) for only $40 (1 year license, $10 for each year thereafter). This is the best direct marketing tool for indie authors because you can harvest email addresses of your ePub3 eReader installers, and also publish your stuff directly and instantly to them through their mobile device. You can also use our creator studio https://emrepublishing.com/embellisher-ereader/ to do your development of eBook titles and the marketing of your eBooks (including sales with Stripe Payment Gateway included) directly to your reader.
This method is innovative in that no other system allows an independent author to work independently (on their own website) and to collect 100% of the hard-earned price they affix on their merchandise–their eBooks. In my opinion, mobile publishing is the future of B2C (business to consumer) eBook publishing, and you can afford $40 to give it a shot, can’t you? Our installation for the non-branded version of the Embellisher is a do-it-yourself package downloadable from my website after you pay. If you want our developer to do the installation, it won’t cost you much.
My other two services are also aimed at indies who can’t get all the advantages of being with a publisher. I was published by Harcourt-Brace Professional in the 1990s, and my experience with them made me want to become a publisher on my own. Why? Besides the fact that I lost out on a ton of royalties, I wanted to put my own marketing touches into the effort and collect the 100% of the price of the book (that I thought I deserved, being the blatant capitalist that I was). Thus, my second service https://emrepublishing.com/downloads/worldwide-ebook-distribution-vearsa/ is to offer my authors (for $50 each) a chance at distributing their eBooks for sale worldwide through Vearsa https://vearsa.com/. This isn’t the BookBaby rip-off, where they promise that you’re being sold to 100 retailers, when in fact, if you were being sold through all the outlets they claim are being distributed to, the retailers would be refusing to offer your book for sale in their store, much less give you 86% royalty. No. My offer gives authors access to over 1,000 online stores around the world, over 65,000 libraries, and publishing privileges in over 100 countries.
The key is that I give my authors their own “imprint” under my publisher umbrella. This is like some big publisher saying, “Hey, let me set you up, author, with your own private label and distribution network, and you can fix the price and you can collect most of the royalties (less the retailer’s cut).” My authors punch in their metadata on the form I give them (a crucial part of eBook marketing!), affix their ISBN, and upload their copy to my Dropbox. I then upload your metadata form and copy of your eBook (in .pdf, .epub, .epub3, and .mobi) to the Vearsa website, and you get all the advantages of having multiple listing genres (not possible for indie authors on their own–as wise indie authors know from working with places like Amazon KDP), and they can also do eBook sales, targeting of certain book stores (and countries) because I will give them an analytics reading they can use to these kinds of marketing adventures.
The third service I offer is to provide print-on-demand services https://emrepublishing.com/downloads/embellisher-diy-installation-print-demand-sales-option/ through Amazon’s Createspace. They establish an account there, and I can do all the “heavy lifting” if needed (editing, interior layout, cover design). However, since most of my authors are professionals, they have already had their work edited and designed, and all they need is some help getting it uploaded properly so they can collect from their marketing of the POD through their Embellisher platform. I also provide in this package an epub copy of an “Author Tour and Book Launch Template” that can be used inside the Embellisher to do pre-publication marketing to stir-up business directly with your readers. Without prepress or editing services, this will cost only $55.
So, if you’re ready to do the real work of getting your titles read and purchased by your readers, then you might consider my options. Why shouldn’t you sell directly to your audience and collect 100% of the royalties? Don’t you deserve it?
In point of fact, you can now establish a free account https://emrepublishing.com/creator/ inside our ePub3 Creator Studio, and see how it all works from the eBook developer’s angle. It is my contention that once we have quality ePub3 books out there for our readers to “experience” then their popularity will increase exponentially. This is especially true for books in the non-fiction arena. Leadership, education and self-help genres can most benefit from ePub3 formatting. eBooks now have to contend with augmented and virtual reality technology. In fact, you can insert VR videos inside your work in our ePub3 Creator Studio.
As a creator myself, what I’m most concerned with is the fact that non-technical but highly creative folks can see their visions come alive by working with a competent developer. I worked with my developer for five years in order to create the code for the Embellisher. We suggest that you can best implement your creativity by partnering with an ePub3 coder who can maximize your ideas on the page for the reader.
